Platinum Hotel
211 E. Flamingo Road
Las Vegas, NV 89169
(702) 365-5000
(877) 211-9211 (toll free)
Coming from the anti-Vegas, the ever-earnest Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts (think fleece, sensible shoes and
Suburus), there is something so alluring about that neon mecca in the desert, at least for me (hmmm…maybe it's time
to relocate).
With the understanding that many of my peers in academia and the far corners of the non-profit world may be more averse to
the high sheen and clanging bells of siren casinos, I have found a compromise just off The Strip. No tigers, dancing
fountains or flaming volcanoes (alas).
What this boutique hotel has in spades is understated style in a more garish land. Its rooms are suites and its spaces are
more intimate (no big conventions here). Included though are a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, fine and more casual dining
and a 24-hour business and fitness centers. Excluded are slots, lions and magicians.
All those are down the block; our spot is finer (and cheaper):
$129 (see, you're in luck already!)
