As I was conceiving of Academic Ambassadors, I knew that I had to pin down the major markets—New York, LA, San Francisco… and Chicago. Still, Chicago was elusive as I was holding out for the Hotel Burnham—the absolute model of what I’m trying to present to traveling academics. Well, it’s a done deal, and you’re going to love it.

There is a fitness center and a full service restaurant, the Atwood Cafe, which serves American comfort food in style.

The city’s major theaters are just blocks away, as is Michigan Avenue and State Street. The Art Institute, the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium are within walking distance, as well.

I don’t get to cover Chicago in my work, but I’m already plotting a vacation there with the Burnham in mind. For those lucky enough to be assigned here, I think the trip may be even more compelling now (and cheaper!).
